The stage is the magic
of gesture. Not a perimeter,
neither a convention
but a manifestation of
the self invented by the look.
Movement creates space.
The passer-by looking around
or the audience sitting down
is the continuation of
initiated by the actor.
Whenever writing Theatre, it automatically dies before the final stop. Each time we want to represent something, falseness seize it all. What I’m interested in is to get the beast out and send it to fight; crossing, ritual, live something and let ourselves crack. This is the beauty of Theater, when it derails.
I propose spaces for intimacy which reveal the reason to do theatre, the unsaid, the unseen, the unknown, this rebel zone to any theatricality, abstract from all logic and refusing any explanation securing understanding, stubborn to all promisses, constantly navigating against the current, not by choice but by necessity. Because we have the right to our part of shadow.
Writing dies, scenography dies, subterfuge dies, costumes, direction and actors die. Remains an organic poetry instead of a dead stage.
Actor-poem and director from Congo where he now runs a festival, Dieudonné Niangouna was associated artist of the Festival d’Avignon 2013.
